As To Widespread Police Discrimination Against Persons Affected by Serious Mental Illness and Disability. Issues that are common to contemporary shortfalls, in graphic defiance of state and federal law across the board.

The following material relates to yesterday's posting in this blog, in the context of rampant discriminations against persons affected by serious mental illness and disability. See: RE: Of PHOENIX POLICE (second rerun, amended) RE: Case #2012-BHS-0263-DHS. As I have stated more than once in the history of this blog, there are a range of causations underlying how and why seriously mentally ill persons are still subjected to graphically unlawful discrimination simply on the basis of their given disability in the context. And as the following record illustrates, these issues definitely extend to the role of at least some highly entrusted public law enforcement representatives who fail to acknowledge the significance of mental illness when persons rely upon the authority of such public officials in order to stabilize or otherwise resolve conflicts that may arise in relation to mental disability.

NM AG joins APD, FBI, NMSP in James Boyd investigation

Office's job to look at possible police misconduct, AG says.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —New Mexico’s attorney general is now looking into the shooting death of James Boyd.

As seen on an officer’s helmet camera, Boyd was fatally shot in the foothills this past month following a three-hour standoff with police. The events surrounding his death are already under investigation by several agencies, but King is forming his own team of investigators to review video and other evidence.
Charges may be filed following the investigation.
"Whenever there's a death that occurs, there's obviously issues of whether there's a homicide that occurred,” said King. “We have a number of investigators in our agency that formerly worked for APD, so they might have some insight.”
King said the U.S. Department of Justice is going to be looking at primarily if there are violations of civil rights or federal laws -- his office will be looking at violations of state laws. He said his team’s findings won’t be released any time soon, and that there is a lot of evidence to dig through.
There’s no timeline as to when the investigation will be completed.

Crisis unit not deployed to Boyd standoff

A specialized unit of the Albuquerque Police Department trained to defuse dangerous situations with mentally ill people was not deployed to the Sandia foothills to negotiate with James Boyd on the day he was fatally shot, advocates said.
Nor was the city’s psychiatrist consulted. Instead, APD deployed officers who deal with repeat offenders.

As I have repeatedly stated, there is extensive evidence that irrefutably supports my contention that any/all persons affected by serious mental illness and related disability are even today at great risk of deep discrimination imparted by those agencies/authorities in whom the general public entrust to oversee the rights and needs of such persons, including law enforcement personnel. Indeed, as I just yesterday clarified yet again, I did experience patterns of such discrimination during my time as a patient at The Arizona State Hospital, with respect for the fact that Phoenix Police are condoning the abuses and associated substandard conditions at ASH, in direct complicity with ASH administrators, ADHS/BHS representatives, and to some marked degree, even the highest level legal authorities (specifically in this case, the Maricopa Attorney General)who are obligated by the public trust to respond to such issues whenever reasonably sound evidence to the effect arises via the voice of Arizona's citizens. Sadly, when it comes to my experiences as a patient in Arizona's sole long term public mental health care facility, these patterns are far from unique. As illustrated by recent events in Albuquerque, NM (as shown in the above material),  Albuquerque Police blatantly failed to meet their fundamental obligations in the case of shooting victim, James Boyd, and as a direct consequence of these patterns, Mr. Boyd is now dead. I contend that similar harm is currently being imparted upon the patients at ASH, and do again call upon all/any Arizona citizens who of reasonable character recognize the nature of these issues to take immediate action on behalf of the ASH patient community. Before someone else dies, or is otherwise gravely harmed by the those Arizona based state employees who have continually engaged in furthering the grossly substandard practices and conditions at ASH, as a matter of standard practice.

I would really love input of any kind from anybody with any interest whatsoever in the issues that I am sharing in this blog. I mean it, anybody, for I will be the first one to admit that I may be inaccurately depicting certain aspects of the conditions
at ASH, and anonymous comments are fine. In any case, I am more than willing to value anybody's feelings about my writing, and I assure you that I will not intentionally exploit or otherwise abuse your right to express yourself as you deem fit. This topic is far, far too important for anything less. Thank you, whoever you are. Peace and Frogs.
