As more staff reports emerge in media- including very recent direct communication with the staff at PJ Reed The Arizona State Hospital and Patient Abuse- about the deeply embedded mismanagement and associated lack of ethics represented by most if not all senior ranking clinical staff at ASH, as well as in the overall executive offices at the Hospital and beyond in ADHS/BHS, I just thought I would share one more detail specific to how many of the staff at ASH feel about the substandard conditions in this facility, the state of Arizona's sole long term public mental hospital. I came upon this little ditty on the "Glassdoor.com" website, wherein employees of any functioning business entity can share their personal experiences and associated viewpoints accrued via their very real interactions with the places they seek fair and reasonable employment at. Notable, as well, that this is only one of at least six such reports about ASH on the above mentioned website, and not a one of them has anything much good to say about their given experiences on the staff there, and I encourage you to visit the site yourself, or better yet if you have direct experience in the context, share your views as well. The site offers full anonymity, and is 100% free.
"Good experience- but know your right as an employee and minority."
Pros– "Good experience working with a variety of patients. Benefits are good."
Cons– "Be aware of People who don't like to work, "revolving Door", nepotism, and discrimination and differential treatment. ASH is staffed by a large group of. Lazy, old, incompetent, gossuping, over the hill, country folk - hill billies. Who. Ban together as a team and try to get. Colored people, new people, and people who actually work fired. There is a group old white folks: management, nurses, techs all trying to ensure they can do as little work as possible and still collect a hefty retirement benefit after 10 to 20 years of state service ... The best jobs and higher paying jobs are given to older white folks. Low paying undesirable jobs given to minorities. The job is dangerous and the older staff may even ask a patient to hit you on the head for a treat . If you witness patient abuse by one of these older caucasian staff don't report it becuzzz they will get you fired for some other trivial reason . Complaints are swept under the rug. People are hired bases on family relationships and by race. They hire a few blacks , Mexicans just to make it look good ... But the core is always this old caucasian group ..."
Advice to Senior Management – "Apply polices fairly and investigate complaints.. stop taking caucasians "word " over minorities word as a valid measure of employees performance. Fire the old incompetent employees for incompetence. Instead of trying to retain white people in their jobs . They may have families but so does every other minority they got fired .. start taking patient complaints on these old white folks seriously instead of. Sweeping them under the rug."
Would I recommend this company to a friend? – "I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company."
It's been stated more than once in this blog: I could not make this stuff up even if I tried. As illustrated in this ASH employees report, the overall conditions at Arizona's sole long term public mental health facility are so out of whack with contemporary society that even outright racism in the employee ranks are obviously of deep concern to at least this one current staff member. And he or she is right in asserting this concern, for I saw that too- none of the senior ranking nursing staff are persons of color, which only reflects the pasty white character of Arizona's entire state government system, in effect. And as I have also described in prior articles in this blog, these same racial discrepancies are evident in the context of the ASH patient community, where non-African American patients outnumber African-American patients by a ratio of roughly 12:1. It is that bad, and until the one's still overseeing ASH in graphic defiance of current data are held accountable once and for all- whereby some modicum of deterrence can be established- I am certain that things there will never change.

I would really love input of any kind from anybody with any interest whatsoever in the issues that I am sharing in this blog. I mean it, anybody, for I will be the first one to admit that I may be inaccurately depicting certain aspects of the conditions
at ASH, and anonymous comments are fine. In any case, I am more than willing to value anybody's feelings about my writing, and I assure you that I will not intentionally exploit or otherwise abuse your right to express yourself as you deem fit. This topic is far, far too important for anything less. Thank you, whoever you are. Peace and Frogs.
