2026. PJ Reed. The Arizona State Hospital and Patient Abuse.

Key terms or words: Lack of concern for public safety, otherwise preventable harms.

                                                  The wrath of American justice.

Jahn and I spent much time together circa the 1980s and 1990s, alpine skiing, mt. biking, rock climbing, and sharing many a meal. And he hand earned his doctorate in education, and as with many mentally ill Americans, yet one more American of far higher intelligence than the average American psychiatirst at time of this writing. And like myself, John was an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe, the Dine' Nation as well as the Ute Mountain Apache Nation. I am an enrolled member of the Great Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, and this connected John to myself. Just as with many bike racers, which I was dedicated to in mt 20s, most of such bike racers are white, just as most rock climbers, skiers, and on list goes, are white.

Here is a bit from my pal Jahn's obituary, very much confirming all that shared above:

John was a world class rock climber, world traveler, mountain biker, snow-skier. He was an intellectual. Through his travel he became very knowledgeable of other cultures, faiths and practices. John was a world renowned free solo climber. He traversed the impossible and captivated and painted his lines of climbing routes like an artist. He danced up the mountains and cliffs that he ascended. He was a kind and beautiful human being, generous with his time and talent. He loved to spend time with his brothers, his wife and his friends. John never worried about money. Those that knew him, knew the best parts of him and enjoyed his uplifting presence. Everyone that spent time with John on his adventures can still remember and reflect upon the journey. We would like to thank friends and family in the celebration of his life. John has the distinction of having biked the Great Wall of China. Out of the 100 best climbers in the world, he was ranked 43rd, though many of the ranked climbers were much younger than him. (Climbing magazine. Gavin Feek. January 12, 2026)

John came and stayed with me in Rico, CO, in summer, 1999, which is where I worked on drafting my MA in American Indian Studies. When and where he told me about how his Apache father took him on many hikes in the those mountains, passing down traditional stories and sharing tribal lore that only Indian people ever learn about. In my case, no, I have never lived on the Chickasaw Nation. But prior to my father's death in 1970, I did have the privilege of spending time on our reservation, vistiting with my cousins, and the like. And in keeping with defending my own better sense of tribal culture, I stood up against the University of Arizona's effort to take full ownership of the data I had compiled in my own research specific to the thesis document of my MA, "The Nez Perce Wolf Reintroduction Program in the State of Idaho."

No such usurping of that which was the testimony of my sources specific to the my own graduate school thesis project. And no telling mentally ill Americans what they need, as though we have no sense of bearing on our own personal identities. Control of others, that was what the Nazis were all about, while the common American psychiarist feels that they need control of all aspects of the mentally ill person own identity. Those kind of people. Period.

I lost touch with John once I rejected Facebook in 2024. But I did send him the occasional message via other such sites, when he was still living in China. A far better man than the average American psychiatrist, far wiser, far more athletically talented, and on that list goes. They are growing lazier over time, the kind of 'doctors', not willing to sit with their patients so as to provide cognitive behavioral therapy. They far prefer the easiest approachesthrowing more and more pills around, and still using electro-convulsive shock, without the permission of their own patients. Lazier as time passes, and no less dangerous today that at any time in the past. I know as much, the fact that bad acting American psychiatrists are working in many sites well away from the accursed state managed mental hospital system.

These many bad acting American psychiatrists make my sick to my stomach in comparison to individuals such as John Duran. He proved himself to me as one of most moral and ethical American citizen I have ever met. And yes, any doctor willing to lie, to abuse, and mistreat their own patients prove themselves as very unethical, immoral, and outright criminally minded. Only ignorant Americans would ever believe that only they are deserving of the privileges associated with our nation's well established civil rights, and these younger white male American psychiatrists, and the female ones, too, are blatantly boneheaded. No other way of putting it. Nope.

This speaks to all those who work for Providence-St. Patrick's Hospital mental health care program. They proved to me that my life meant nothing to them, and and as such, I have lost all faith in people such as Robert Munjal, Ira Gaddy, Jason Molinaro, and on the list goes. The least ethical medical students see psychiatry as an open door to act badly, thus standing out as the most immoral modern medical doctors at time of this writing. I no longer see any of them as valid doctors, and it is via knowing people like John Durn that I have leaned what ethical Americans are.

It's beyond the pale, the fact that even in this day and age, the vast majority of today's America psychiatrists cannot be trusted ot care for persons who, like myself, are affected by serious mentally illness. Sin being sin, crime being crime, and those who cause otherwise preventable harms. Ugliness takes on many shades, that is a given, in this arguably diverse culture. They are all far less ethical that the vast majority of America's mentally ill citizens. They assume that on basis of caring for the mentally ill, that they are inherently compassion. No, they lack empathy, and only care about themselves. Takes far more than an medical degree to prove such attributes, this too is a given.

Yes, the polar opposite of the kind of Americans who have no true hope of legacy nor public applaud for their own past achievements. Again, from Climbing magazine, published in association with Outside magazine:

Every January, we share a tribute to members of our community who we lost last year. Some were legends, others were pillars of their community, all were climbers.

Thanks, John, for the many awesome experiences we shared together. And for all thay you taught me, as per how to be a plainly moral human being. Not an easy aspiration in this day and age, but doable if one has...what it takes.

I would really love input of any kind from anybody with any interest whatsoever in the issues that I am sharing in this blog. I mean it, anybody, for I will be the first one to admit that I may be inaccurately depicting certain aspects of the conditions
at ASH, and anonymous comments are fine. In any case, I am more than willing to value anybody's feelings about my writing, and I assure you that I will not intentionally exploit or otherwise abuse your right to express yourself as you deem fit. This topic is far, far too important for anything less. Thank you, whoever you are. Peace and Frogs.
