It is all right there, the scowl of a mangy ass cur, the mindset of a twisted in the head scoundrel, the character of a boneheaded devil of sorts. My very real memory of having this Rat Bastard as my doctor still carries enough vile energy that it turns my stomach.
I warned you, you fool-you old man, I did and you know it. I did so in good faith, and it is only your own damn fault that you are known for who you are today.
Even today (see photo below), one simple glimpse of the man's face quite plainly suggests what only some of us already know about Akhter, in fact. For us, then, it is all right there. His face, nothing more. While my very real memory of having this Rat Bastard as my doctor still carries enough vile energy that it turns my stomach.
CASE IN POINT. Fact: In the first few months of my time as a patient-consumer of ADHS care services at ASH, my first assigned primary psyche provider there (the first of four in a period of 13 months!, and so much for the established medical standard, "continuity of care", right?), longtime ASH psychiatrist Laxman Patel. got good and spooked by my willingness to exercise my civil rights and basic sense of civic duty, and to follow the Hospital's own protocol by reporting to him issues occurring there, issues that I knew to were happening in abject violation of state and federal law, patient abuse, namely, and directly associated staff misconduct.
Dr. Laxman Patel, Friday, February 04, 2011:
"What? Do you think you can change the system?"
Laxman Patel. Wednesday, March 04, 2011.
(To my entire treatment team, in fact.)
"Your behavior is ridiculous!
Everything I say you then write down!"
It perhaps goes without saying that in rather short time, Patel's nervousness became pretty freaking clear to me, which then led to him demanding that I seek another primary ASH psyche doctor. And even that occurred in ludicrous fashion, an overt example of Patel's own ignorance when he made this demand, which I only realized in full when he came to me a few days later, and stated as though he had a tail between his legs:
"I did not know it,
but I am not allowed to do that.
You need request another doctor.
Unless you are willing to continue
working with me, that is."
"Continue working with him!?!
After he, himself, had so loudly pronounced
an willingness to continue treating me!?!"
So I did make that request, and was thus reassigned to become one of Akhter's patients. Who, in turn, immediately- literally that fast- failed to abide by his own obligation to meet with me as a new patient in a reasonably timely fashion, as per ADHS protocol. Ergo, when I saw the Pakistani Rat Bastard out on the "patient mall" at the time, I cordially asked to meet with him within the standardized time frame, which he refused to do. I then informed him in very clear language that I knew of this protocol, and that I was not going to ignore his violating that standard, he literally blew me off with a cursory wave of his hand, overtly indicating that he had no concern over such protocol. And as time passed, he further indicated that in his perverted frame of mind I was something far less then an American. That went for the rest of my time there at ASH, even after Akhter followed Patel's lead and and passed me off to my next (of four total, as stated above) ASH psychiatrist, Lynn Lydon. But Akhter was definitely the shittiest of the bunch, as personified by the following:
Pervais Akhter, Wednesday, March 16, 2011
"There is nothing you can do about these things.
Who do thing you are, anyway?
As far I am concerned,
you are nothing
but a patient."
I would be hard pressed to more seriously express just how graphically twisted this Pakistani doctor's behavior is. It is about this time, when I was subject to his crap in April 2011, that I began asking myself:
"Where in the hell
do these sort of people come from!?!"
That said, these sort of people come from areas of the world where neither democratic values nor human rights are the norm. Raised in an atmosphere that in no way serves to meet these specific attributes. Where people are subject to caste, or dictatorships and familial structures that put the less privileged in ways that we all know would not be allowed in The US.
It is that simple. I hate to say it, but it really is.
I hate racism, and do realize its presence in American society even today. I also feel that I fairly well understand what it must be like to come here to USA from somewhere like Pakistan, or India, or the Philippines, simply as a result of my being an American who values democracy and the equal rights and protections of others. But even so, to take that shit out on persons- Americans- affected and disabled by any form of illness is horrific, at best.

I would really love input of any kind from anybody with any interest whatsoever in the issues that I am sharing in this blog. I mean it, anybody, for I will be the first one to admit that I may be inaccurately depicting certain aspects of the conditions
at ASH, and anonymous comments are fine. In any case, I am more than willing to value anybody's feelings about my writing, and I assure you that I will not intentionally exploit or otherwise abuse your right to express yourself as you deem fit. This topic is far, far too important for anything less. Thank you, whoever you are. Peace and Frogs.
